Fach ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you sign in with Apple, we receive your Apple ID user identifier and, if you choose to share it, your email address and name. This information is used solely for account authentication and cloud sync functionality.

Collection Data

The app stores information about items you add to your collection, including titles, creators, cover images, and any notes you create. This data is stored locally on your device and optionally synced to iCloud if you enable cloud sync.

Photos and Camera

We access your camera to scan barcodes and capture cover images. We access your photo library only when you choose to add images from it. Photos are processed locally or sent to our AI service for item identification. We do not store your photos on our servers beyond what is necessary for processing.

Location and Weather

With your permission, we use your general location to retrieve weather information via Apple's WeatherKit. This is used solely to personalize recommendations (e.g., suggesting cozy reads on rainy days). We do not store or track your location.

How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and maintain the app's functionality
  • To sync your collection across your devices via iCloud
  • To identify items using AI-powered scanning
  • To generate personalized recommendations
  • To process subscription purchases

Data Storage and Security

Your collection data is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. If you enable iCloud sync, data is stored in your personal iCloud account, protected by Apple's security measures. We do not have access to your iCloud data.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Apple Sign In - For authentication
  • Apple iCloud - For optional cloud sync
  • Apple WeatherKit - For weather-based recommendations
  • Apple StoreKit - For subscription management
  • Anthropic Claude API - For AI-powered item identification

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising or tracking purposes.

Your Rights

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the app's Settings. You can export your collection data before deletion. iCloud data can be managed through your device's Settings.

Children's Privacy

Fach is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
